Recipes Side Dish Sauces and Condiments Sauces An Easy-as-Pie Sweet and Sour Sauce (no red sauce here...golden) 4.7 (23) 19 Reviews 4 Photos I got this sweet and sour sauce recipe with no ketchup from a friend in Alaska when I was stationed there years ago. Whisk together water and cornstarch in a small bowl until cornstarch is dissolved; whisk into boiling mixture. Cook sauce until thickened, 5 to 7 minutes. Cook’s Note Use a pot that allows room for the bubbling sauce to prevent burning your skin while stirring.Unlike the majority of American restaurants that I've been in, this is truly sweet and sour and golden in color, as opposed to red.
