Ingredients

  • ¼ cup tahini

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic

  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon sesame oil

  • 5 dashes hot pepper sauce (such as Cholula®)

  • 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed

  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Directions

  1. Combine tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cayenne pepper, cumin, salt, sesame oil, and hot sauce in a food processor or blender; blend until very smooth, about 3 minutes. Add garbanzo beans and blend for 2 minutes. Add water and blend for 3 minutes more. Chill in refrigerator.

Recipe Tips

For fluffier hummus, add 3 to 4 tablespoons of water instead of 2 tablespoons.

If you like it really spicy, add an extra teaspoon of cayenne pepper or a halved, seeded hot red pepper in the beginning.
