Bourbon Molasses Wings

Game day is this Sunday, so naturally, I couldn’t let it pass without sharing one of my favorite wing recipes: Bourbon Molasses Wings.

These are easy to pull together so you might as well add this to your food table.

Admittedly, I love wings, but I’m not so crazy about the mess, especially since Cole has a terrible habit of wiping his hands on his shirt. I should mention, this is the case even when he has a napkin on his lap, under his plate or within arms reach.

It’s a habit that I’m sure formed when he was younger and use to run up and wipe his hands straight down my pants. And it’s a habit that the baby has also watched, copied and picked up. Although, sometimes it’s just easier than scrambling for a hand towel or napkin I guess.

Lucky for me, this year, when I’m faced with those finger-stained shirts from these wings, I’ll be reaching for Persil® ProClean™ detergent. Yup, it’s a new addition to the family and one that’s here to stay because no more soaking, no more pre-wash—just throw it in your laundry and everything is clean. That is my kind of laundry assistant . . . now, if only I can get someone to take over my laundry rotation.

Be sure to check out the Persil ProClean Facebook page for additional information about Persil, stain removal tips and fun games and prizes.

Bourbon Molasses Wings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 4 pounds chicken wingettes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. To make sauce: In a saucepan, over medium heat, stir and cook ketchup, molasses, vinegar and bourbon until boiling. Lower heat to medium-low and simmer until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat; set aside.
  2. Heat oven to 475 degrees F. Line two bake sheets with foil. Toss wings in oil, salt and pepper. Divide wings between both sheets and spread to wings out into one even layer. Roast until golden brown and tender, about 35 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool for 3-5 minutes or wings easily release from foil. Transfer wings to a large bowl and toss with sauce until well coated.
